Public Spirituality: A Personal Workbook was the first version of 7 Steps to Finding Your Spiritual Life.
The book Public Spirituallity is a training tool for drug and alcohol counselors to help them deal with their clients'
spiritual and religious lives.
The authors, through their work with clients in social services, hospice, probation,
foster care, public and private schools as well as in organized religious settings, discovered how challenging it can be to
deal with clients' spiritual and religious lives.
Service care providers often seemed to fall into two camps, either
not dealing with clients' religious or spiritual background/lives at all, OR feeling so strongly about their own religious
perspective, would share their perspective as the only acceptable way to address spiritual and religious needs.
Both
books, 7 Steps to Finding Your Spiritual Life and Public Spirituality: A Personal Workbook present
seven areas of spiritual life, areas that can be approached by anyone, no matter what religious background they have, even
if they have NO religious background.
Daystar Education has chosen Public Spirituality: A Personal Workbook,
as the training tool, feeling that the phrase 'public spirituality' reflects a positive and affirming way to talk about religion
and spirituality.
The next Public Spirituality workshop is April 28, 2008. click below to see the complete workshop
